After going through my own weight loss journey where I dropped 35 kilos, I discovered my love for nutrition and cooking, and my transformed lifestyle. In stead of feeling deprived on the food choices I could make, I enjoy healthy abudance. In stead of feeling tired all the time, I am now energized more than ever. In stead of the self pity on my body image, I appreciate the new me with all the curves, stretch marks and imperfections!   • Our cells respond to stress. ๐Ÿ˜Œ. So there is nothing quite like being in a good mental space. Its important to seek it. Here are my go to things I do to make sure I keep stress at bay: ๐ŸŒŸPrayer and meditation. I talk to God alot. ๐ŸŒŸI journal. A good friend of mine advised this, process stuff on paper not in your head. ๐ŸŒŸI exercise. Those endorphins. They are good. ๐ŸŒŸSupport system. I got a few good friends, and man they offer great insight and conversations. ๐ŸŒŸI let it go. Yeap if you cant control it, whats the point hanging on to it? ๐ŸŒŸLastly i try my best not to worry! Sounds cliche but it has been proven 80% of what we worry about actually never comes to pass. Sp thats literally wasted energy ๐Ÿค”.

  • A little #motivationmonday. #32weeks in. Working out your core while pregnant. Sounds absurd right? Well its not entirely bonkers and infact highly recommended. BUT must be done safely! Its important to note certain ab moves can increase risk of diastis recti (separation of superficial abdominal muscles that can be challenging to repair). .
โœ…Why is the core important during pregnancy? The pelvic floor and deep core need to be super strong to support the baby and your shifting weight. Strenghtening them will provide ease and comfort and is great for labor. These will be the first muscles to rehab after delivery so its important to learn how to activate them. .
โœ…What do you need to be careful about? Avoid heavy flexion- ab curls, crunches, anything that targets the 6 pack muscles! You really just wanna focus the TVA muscles and pelvic core. It is also not recommended to do any ab exercises on your back while pregnant. .
โœ…What should you be aware of outside the gym? Have mindfulness in your everyday life. You can engage the TVA and pelvic floor by getting out of bed, getting up off the couch, lying down on a mat then up again. TVA strenghtening is key to countering the exaggerated lumbar curve that most pregnant women tend to have. It takes an awareness of your body alignment and activating and strenghtening the right muscles. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Sounds like a lot of physical training jargon but we can simplify to this: deep core breathing  belly tucking and pelvic floor exercises. Having studied sport and exercise nutrition and tackling food and exercise in pregnancy, I love sharing this knowledge to help make that pregnancy journey all the more beautiful ๐Ÿ’•
